Update from the Medical Aid desk

Our offices will be closed over the festive season so we would like to encourage you to save the emergency number for your insurance company. These emergency numbers can be used to lodge claims and add new itemto lodge claims and add new items to your policy. In the event you do have to claim, it must be lodged with your insurance company within 30 days. Please be sure to email the claim number to Kate on katen@octagonfinancial.co.za.

If the claim is not urgent, you can wait until our offices reopen in the new year and we will happily lodge it for you.

Festive season insurance tips

  • Make sure your home and/or office alarm works properly and is ON every time you leave the premises. Failure to do so could cause complications to a claim following a robbery.
  • If you would like to add items of jewellery to the all-risk section of your policy while you’re away from home these holidays, email your request to Kate before Tuesday, 15 December 2020.
  • If your cellphone, tablet, laptop or any other electronic device you are taking with you on your travels, is not listed in the all-risk section of your policy with the respective SIM and/or IMEI number, that device is not covered by your policy. Ensure all mobile devices are correctly insured under the all-risk section.
  • Remember, if you leave an insured electronic device like your phone, tablet or laptop in plain view in your car, and it is not stored away out of sight in the boot or cubbyhole, it will not be covered by your insurance policy in the event it is stolen.

App for Momentum clients

Momentum has launched a new app for its short-term insurance clients. I highly recommend you download the app, as it has some very beneficial features.

To download the app:

  1. Register on the Momentum website momentum.co.za.
  2. Download the Momentum app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  3. Once installed, log in with the username and password you used to register on the momentum.co.za website.
