Vaccination phase 2 – what you need to know

As the first phase of vaccinations draws to a close with frontline medical personnel largely vaccinated, the second phase of South Africa’s vaccine rollout is commencing.

Octagon Financial has held detailed engagements with the country’s leading medical aid schemes and members of the provincial command council to get to grips with information surrounding this rollout.

Starting with South Africans over the age of 60, citizens wanting the vaccine are invited to register for it through the Department of Health and the private medical aid companies. If you are a medical aid member, you should have received communication from your scheme requesting you to register on both the government portal at https://vaccine.enroll.health.gov.za  and on your medical aid’s vaccination programme website.

Private schemes like Discovery Health, Bonitas, Fedhealth, CAMAF and others are still not permitted to procure vaccine doses. They are, however, partnering with the Department of Health to provide private vaccination sites at their various offices, healthcare providers and gyms. If you have not received an email from your medical aid, please contact our office on 011 440 6750.

As the country’s mass vaccination programme gains momentum, we anticipate a flurry of information surrounding the rollout. We will keep you informed with the most accurate and pertinent information we have on hand.
